Hand-Tufting
Stencilling
Hand-tufting a rug begins when a Design is stencilled to scale, then drawn onto a canvas.

Drawing
The drawers must draw the design to fit the canvas for the required rug size.

Tufting
After the design is drawn, the canvas is stretched onto a vertical frame which allows the tufter to work on both sides. The hand held tufting machine loops the wool through the canvas, then the wool on the front of the canvas is cut to the required pile height. The back of the canvas remains looped and receives a glued backing to hold all in place.
Carving
Some designs require carving; this is done by hand as shown.

Delivery
Then the rug is bound as required and packed ready for delivery
